Herbert R. Ashford, PhD
Dr. Ashford is the Director of Public Policy Excellence and has 37 years of law enforcement experience. Most recently, he served as the Interim Chief and Assistant Chief of Police for Dallas College from 2017 to 2024. He also served over 30 years with the Dallas Police Department, where he supervised or commanded in every aspect, including patrol, crime analysis, operations, training, administration, community policing, and investigations. Dr. Ashford is experienced with organizational leadership, policy development, and government.
